It is the mission of The Pirate to chronicle, through words and images, the
events of a school year for students in grades K-12 of the Hudson Community School District.
The 128 page, full-color yearbook is a class project, created by students enrolled in the state and national award-winning
journalism program at Hudson High School.
This hands-on learning experience
allows students to gain real world skills such as time management, critical thinking, conflict resolution, problem-solving,
collaboration, and effective communication, as they word as contributing citizens to create a time capsule of memories from
the school year.
Yearbook production begins the first day of school and ends the last day
of the school year. The books are printed over the summer and distributed to those enrolled in the district the first week
of the following school year.
Graduates and/or their parents can pick up yearbooks at the start of the school
year as early as the first All Teacher Work Day, 8 a.m.-3 p.m. Graduate books not collected
prior to the start of the school year will be given to the oldest sibling in the district. If there is no sibling, graduate
books will be held for pick up at the high school through the end of the school year.
By request, books can be mailed to graduates or those who've
moved from the district for a charge of $5. Please send requests for mailing to Joletta Yoder, yearbook adviser, Hudson High
School, 215 S. Washington, Hudson, Iowa 50643 or by email to jyoder@hudson.k12.ia.us. Once payment is received, along with the mailing address, the book
will be mailed.
