A little about your teacher, Mrs. Yoder...
After spending the first four years of my life on the east side of Des Moines, my parents and I moved to my mother's hometown of Pleasantville after my grandpa died. Located south of Des Moines just between the balloon races of Indianola and the car races of Knoxville, Pleasantville is, in many ways, very similar to Hudson. I reaped the benefits of small-town living, enjoying many good friends and participating in many activities. When I graduated in 1990, I was proud to have a title of "Miss Iowa Dance, 1990," All-State cheerleader, All-American dancer, state trophies as a member of the flag and pom squad, junior class vice-president/co-prom organizer, All-State individual speech performer, state-award winner for individual and group speech, state honors as a clarinet player in our concert and pep bands, soprano in choir and show choir, award-winning typist as member of the Business Club, active member of the Human Services and Spanish Clubs, and active member of the Church of Christ and its youth group on my resume. After graduation I spent a semester at Northwestern College in Orange City. However, a month later I knew everyone on campus and had done all there was to do in town so I craved a little excitement. I found it when I transferred to DMACC in Ankeny where I lived in a condo with my two best friends. By the end of the next year and a half, I had my Associate of Arts, money  from waitressing at Chi Chi's, and  wonderful memories having served as counselor for the Boys and Girls Club. I was then off to the University of Northern Iowa. The two years I spent in Cedar Falls were quite amazing. There I was immersed in English and education courses, served as editor for the school's literary magazine, was elected president for the English honor society, and was an active member of the education honor society. In December of 1994 I graduated Magna Cum Laude, after a semester of student teaching at Urbandale High School and Indian Hills Junior High in West Des Moines. For one semester I subbed in the Cedar Valley then found my home in June of 1995 when I accepted a part-time position at Hudson teaching Consumer English. Today I am happily married to my husband, who is a field supervisor for Magee Construction, a proud parent of two children who attend Hudson schools, and having fun teaching Freshman English and journalism at HHS.
